Marine Coder Innovation Challenge Proposal Selection

Four projects were selected for further development in the Marine Corps Business Operations Support Services (MCBOSS) accredited DevSecOps environment!

The selected proposals are: * I MEF: GCCS Reconciliation Tool * II MEF: Command Data Visualization Tool * III MEF: REDONKULATOR Logistics Planning Tool * MARFORRES: Predictive Maintenance Operations

Each MEF team will begin a 90 day development evolution where they will learn how to: * Plan and execute agile software development methodology * Achieve an Authority to Operate (ATO) through the Risk Management Framework (RMF) methodology * Use Git Flow and Trunk Based Development to effectively build and collaborate on a product as a team * Leverage a Platform as a Service (PaaS) to build containerized apps using a DevSecOps pipeline * Build a web hosted static site! * And much more!

Marine Coder Innovation Challenge

Calling all MEFs...The time is now to bring together all your coding talent to create a micro-application in an accredited Marine Corps DevSecOps environment. See Software Innovation Challenge MARADMIN for details!

Situation: This MARADMIN serves as an announcement of the first micro- application development innovation challenge. IC4 requests each MEF to assemble, and authorize the duty efforts of,

II MIG Marine Coders Cell Established!

The II MIG CO, Colonel Russell, signed the II MIG Marine Coder charter today effectively establishing the first Marine Coder Cell in the Fleet Marine Force.

Cells are a critical component to scaling the Marine Coder movement and connecting Marines in the fleet to tools, environments, training and resources championed by Marine Coders!

We look forward to working with the II MIG Marine Coder Cell to progress the maturity of software development capability for Marines. Thank you all the Marines and civilians at II MIG for all the work to make this a reality!

Last, we expect I MIG and III MIG to be fast followers!

December Hackathon

December Hackathon for Marine Coders registration is open! Wed, Dec 16 0830 - 1700 EST. We'll be focusing on cleaning up the website and adding a few features; subscription, project proposal, and event page. (https://marines.dev) We also have a great guest speaker, Miles Tiglao (USMC, ret.). Drawing from 23 years of Marine Corps experience and 10 years in the IT industry, Miles Tiglao will discuss how you can transition from coding pet projects to developing enterprise applications. Are you satisfied coding in a dark room or do you want to make an organizational impact? After a 30-minute presentation discussing how to shift your thinking, we will have 30 minutes allotted for a Q&A period. You can register for the Hackathon (0830 - 1600 EST), the speaker + hackathon (0830 - 1700 EST), or just the speaker (1600 - 1700 EST)

Marine Coders Association of Marine Corps Logisticians Brief

Check out Marine Coders presentation to the Association of Marine Corps Logisticians! This was a great opportunity to share the Marine Coders vision with the Association of Marine Corps Logisticians. Good overall discussion focusing on the importance of software and how to enable a "software engineering micro-capability" at commands to improve mission with software tools, training, DevSecOps environments, and data!
